When I entered the restaurant, the first thing I noticed was how clean the restaurant was. Greeted by the daily and weekly specials, the place felt organized and natural…
However, when I got to the main menu, I truly knew why the place felt somewhat special to me. It was because of the variety of menu items, from tacos with pork to chicken to even seafood and vegetarian; there were so many items to choose from, even within the sub-categories of tacos. The most stunning thing to me about the menu was how ALL of the tacos were gluten-free (with a corn tortilla and telling the cashier that you have a gluten allergy (as they will then change gloves)).
I ultimately decided to order: the Chips with Guacamole, a carne asada, a tikin xic, and a mojo fish taco. The guacamole was very fresh and spicy, and the chips seemed to also be very authentic.
However, the main course was the tacos, the restaurant’s namesake food. Just like the appetizer, the tacos were all very fresh and natural. My favorite taco was the tikin xic, for its intense spice and its bursting flavor, followed by the carne asada, for its nice light flavor. While I didn’t love the Mojo Fish as much, it was still a vibrant taco. For the carne asada and the tikin xic, I got the blue-plate special, which includes rice (I chose Mexican rice) and beans (I chose the refried black beans). The beans were high in freshness (what a surprise!) and the rice paired well with the beans.
If I had one bad thing to say about the restaurant, it would be that the restaurant seemed very crowded; it was a challenge to find a table after ordering (although they have many seats outside, it was a chilly day when I went, so this observation may be inaccurate for most times of the year).
Overall, the freshness and bounty of Gluten-free options available influenced my experience as a preferable one.
